Lineker Lands Hilarious Blow on Rooney in BBC Studio During FA Cup Final

Gary Lineker’s cheeky jab at Wayne Rooney sends BBC studio into laughter during Crystal Palace’s historic FA Cup win over Manchester City.

There was more action off the pitch than on it yesterday at least inside the BBC studio where Wayne Rooney found himself at the center of some lighthearted but savage studio banter during the halftime analysis of the FA Cup final between Crystal Palace and Manchester City.

As pundits Richard Keys, Gary Lineker, and Wayne Rooney were discussing on Crystal Palace’s surprise 1-0 lead at halftime, the conversation took a hilarious turn when Richard turned to Rooney and asked.

“ Being a manger and you are 1-0 up, what do you tell the players at halftime?

” Do you change the way you play?”

Before Rooney could even open his mouth to answer, Lineker jumped in with a brutal quip

“His teams were never 1-0 up!!”

The studio burst into laughter, including Rooney himself, who took the jab in good spirits. Richard couldn’t help but laugh also.

The match of the day host followed up with “No offense, Wayne ’ in a quick apology.

Rooney, laughed it off and responded with a cool, “Let’s get back to the game,” brushing the moment aside like a seasoned pundit.

The moment has since gone viral online, with fans sharing clips and memes of Lineker’s quick-witted roast. Many praised Rooney for taking it on the chin and keeping the mood light and showing the same calmness under pressure that defined much of his playing career.

Meanwhile, the match itself ended in historic fashion. Crystal Palace held on to their first-half lead thanks to a stunning goal from Eberechi Eze and some world-class goalkeeping from Dean Henderson, clinching their first-ever major trophy and a place in European competition next season.
