Banksia Tigers Kicks Out All Players After Series of Violent Incidents

An amateur football club Banksia Tigers, based in South Sydney, Australia, has dismissed all its players, including members of the youth teams, following repeated violent incidents both on and off the pitch.

The decision came after months of escalating issues involving the club’s fans and players.
According to reports from members of the community, Banksia Tigers’ matches have become notorious for violence, with fights breaking out nearly every weekend.
On several occasions, spectators and players from the club have been involved in physical altercations, forcing officials and police to intervene.
The most serious incident occurred on June 26, during a Premier League match between Banksia Tigers and Scots Lions FC at Gardiner Park.
The game descended into chaos, with multiple reports of brawls breaking out, leading to yet another police intervention. Authorities say they have been called to the pitch at least four times this year to deal with disturbances involving Banksia Tigers.
As a result of these ongoing issues, the league association has issued a strict suspension to the club’s teams, banning all players from the U-18 level up to the senior team for the entire 2025 season.
This suspension essentially sidelines the club from competitive football for the foreseeable future.
The Banksia Tigers, once a proud grassroots club known for promoting football among multicultural communities in South Sydney, now face an uncertain future. The club was originally established to foster talent and unity among youth through sport, but recent events have painted a much darker image.
