Messi and Suárez Launch Their Own Football Club
Football legends Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez launch Deportivo LSM in Uruguay, aiming to build a legacy from the ground up as they prepare for life after playing

Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez have teamed up to create their own football club and the buzz is already spreading like wildfire.
The new club, named Deportivo LSM, has been officially registered and will begin its journey in the Uruguayan football league system, starting from the fourth division next season. According to multiple reports from South American outlets.

The duo didn’t buy an existing team, they founded this club from scratch, marking a bold new chapter in their post-European careers.
The name LSM is a combination of their names: Luis / Lionel Suárez Messi, a clever nod to their legendary partnership both on and off the pitch.
The club’s crest and branding also prominently feature the initials, giving fans a nostalgic reminder of their Barcelona days, where they tore apart defences in La Liga and Europe with ease.
A New Era Begins in Uruguay
Deportivo LSM will be based in Uruguay, Suárez’s home country, and will begin competing in the Uruguayan fourth division next season. This decision is seen as a grassroots initiative by both players to give back to the sport and develop football talent from the ground up.
Sources close to the project claim that the club’s long-term vision is not just to compete, but to rise through the ranks and eventually challenge at the top level of Uruguayan football.
It is expected to focus heavily on youth development, player mentorship, and community engagement with both Messi and Suárez playing active roles behind the scenes.
Luis Suárez statement:
”Today, I’d like to share something very important with you all, a family project called “LS Sports”.
This is a dream of our family that dates back to 2018. Now, we’ve made significant progress. We have over 3,000 members, as well as infrastructure in the comprehensive sports center and urban sports base, which provides our members with a rich variety of activities.
The club offers a wide range of options for children and teenagers, and many people have worked hard for it. Without them, this project wouldn’t have developed to where it is today.
My family and I have great faith in this project, and this dream is gradually becoming a reality. We’re not just doing it for ourselves, but also for the people of the entire coastal city. Currently, we have more than 80 professionals working with us every day, helping children learn how to co – exist with the challenges of growing up. Looking back on the early days, it’s hard not to be filled with emotions. There were wonderful moments, as well as tough ones.
But today, I want to contribute to Uruguayan football, the football I’ve loved and grown up with since childhood. I want to provide opportunities and tools for teenagers and children to help them grow. Therefore, we hope that our club can start competing within the Uruguayan Football Association system.
This is a very exciting goal for us, and it represents a huge step forward for me and my family. We firmly believe in this project.
We aim not only to provide sports facilities but also to serve teenagers from a humanistic perspective, giving them opportunities that we didn’t have when we were young. We will work hard with a calm mindset to turn this long-dreamed of project into a reality and participate in the competitive world.
So, I’ve decided to integrate LS Sports Club into the youth and professional structure of the Uruguayan Football Association.
But this dream doesn’t end here. Together with our family, friends, and close ones, we’ve shared many common experiences since childhood and accumulated a wealth of experience in the top echelons of football.
Therefore, today I’m delighted to introduce a friend and partner. We have a lot in common because we started from similar beginnings. This project is the perfect platform to continue sharing our vision for football and staying true to our original aspirations.
So, I’ve invited my friend (Messi) to join the professional project of LS Sports Club.
Even though they are both still playing professional football Messi with Inter Miami in Major League Soccer and Suárez having joined him there earlier the formation of Deportivo LSM suggests they are already planning their post-retirement contributions to the sport.
Lionel Messi statement:
” First of all, I’d like to thank Luis for giving me this opportunity to join this project. We have been working hard on this project for many years, and it has grown very significantly.
It’s a great honor and joy for me to be a part of it with you now. Thank you for choosing me. I hope to do my best to contribute to the continued development of this project, and most importantly, to work side by side with you. Thank you very much!
Fans Already Buzzing
Since the news broke, fans in Uruguay and across the world have shown immense excitement. Reports claim that many people in Uruguay have already started pricing football boots and kits, hoping to either join the club or be part of the surrounding football activity it will bring.
There’s a belief that the presence of Messi and Suárez in the club’s management and potentially in training camps or scouting missions will provide young players with an unprecedented opportunity to learn directly from two of the game’s greatest.
Not Just a Vanity Project
Critics might see this as just another vanity project by football stars, but early signs suggest otherwise.
With their combined knowledge, global connections, and passion for the game, Messi and Suárez seem determined to create a lasting legacy in South American football. Unlike other celebrity-backed clubs that are often marketing gimmicks, Deportivo LSM appears to be grounded in genuine football development goals.
As Deportivo LSM prepares to make its competitive debut, the football world will be watching closely. Whether or not the club can rise quickly through Uruguay’s competitive league structure remains to be seen but with two legends at the helm, the journey is bound to be anything but ordinary.
