Shock in Cairo as Al Ahly Sack Marcel Koller Despite Stellar Record

Al Ahly fans have cried their hearts out after hearing that the club have sacked Marcel Koller just because he lost to Mamelodi Sundowns.
The 64-year-old Swiss coach who was at the helm of Al Ahly since 2022 broke different types of records with the Egyptian giants.
During his tenure, he led the Egyptian giants to incredible success, securing 11 titles, including back-to-back CAF Champions League trophies and two Egyptian Premier league titles.

Under Koller, Al Ahly became a dominant force, In the 2024/2025 Egyptian Premier League regular season, the team lost only one match.
From 2022 to 2025, Koller managed 161 matches, with 106 wins, 37 draws, and just 18 losses which is an outstanding record by any standard.
But in a move that has stunned fans Al Ahly decided to part ways with Koller last week and the reason is their exit from the CAF Champions League at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns.
The semi-final clash was closely contested after a 0-0 draw in South Africa, the second leg in Cairo ended 1-1 meaning Al Ahly were eliminated on away goals.
Al Ahly were leading 1-0 until the 90th minute, when a heartbreaking own goal by Ibrahim sent Sundowns through.
Despite Marcel Koller incredible achievements with Al Ahly, that single result was enough for Al Ahly’s management to show Koller the door.
