Osimhen Accused by Alleged Villagers of Abandoning Hometown After Football Fame

A group of elderly men claiming to be from Victor Osimhen’s hometown in Olenokwa, Okhuesan, Esan South East Local Government Area of Edo State, have come forward in a viral video, accusing the football star of abandoning his roots after rising to international fame and fortune.

In the video circulating on social media, a man identified as Omuyiwa John alleges he is a relative of Victor Osimhen’s late father, Patrick Osimhen.
According to John, he and Patrick shared the same grandfather and even attended the same primary school.
He further claimed that Victor’s father learned to drive in the village before moving to Lagos, where he eventually met and married Victor’s mother.
After her passing, John said her family insisted that her bride price be paid before she could be buried a responsibility allegedly handled by members of the village, according to him, Patrick Osimhen was financially incapable at the time.
John also lamented that despite their support for the family in the past, Victor Osimhen has allegedly not acknowledged them, even after his father’s death. He expressed disappointment that Osimhen buried his father in Lagos instead of bringing him back home to their ancestral village.
These claims have sparked mixed reactions online, with some criticizing the timing and motive of the accusations, while others are calling for Osimhen to address the allegations and reconnect with his roots.
