NLO Cancels 15–2 Match Over Suspicious Scoreline

In a shocking turn of events, the Nationwide League One (NLO) has cancelled a match between Campos FC and A&A Football Club following a suspicious 15–2 scoreline that raised serious eyebrows.

The match took place on May 9, 2025, at the Akwa Center, but what should have been a regular league fixture has now turned into a full-blown investigation.
Right after the game, the NLO Disciplinary Committee launched a probe into what they described as an “unusual and questionable result.” Following the investigation, the committee announced that the match has been declared null and void.
The official statement from NLO
” After thorough deliberation, the Committee has reached the following decisions: The NLO disciplinary committee hereby cancelled the match for match compromise.
“The two clubs involved are suspended indefinitely until the final determination of the case by the Nigeria Football Integrity Unit.
“All the match officials in the match (4 referees and match commissioner) are hereby recommended to step down from all matches and be suspended from football engagement.
“The players and officials of the two clubs, CAMPOS FC and A& A. FC, shall be suspended indefinitely until final rectification by the Nigeria Football Federation.
Both clubs are expected to adhere strictly to these decisions and ensure compliance with the NLO’s regulations moving forward. Failure to comply with the committee’s rulings may result in further disciplinary action.
“We appreciate your cooperation and commitment to fair play in Nigeria football development. This decision can be appealed to the Nigeria Football Federation Disciplinary Committee.”
The case has now been handed over to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for further review, with possible harsher sanctions looming possibly even deregistering the clubs involved.
For now, both teams are in limbo, and the NLO is making it clear that there’s no room for shady football in Nigerian grassroots leagues.
